SUMMARY:Maine Beer Company - Let's Get Together for Lunch: An Evening Benefit for Allied Whale
DESCRIPTION:Please join us on Wednesday\, October 1st\, for an evening of meaningful connection\, conservation\, and craft brews in support of our longtime partner\, Allied Whale\, a program of the College of the Atlantic dedicated to marine mammal research\, rescue\, and education. In the earliest days of MBC\, our first nonprofit donation of only $100 began a partnership that has grown over time and continues to this day in support of Allied Whale’s work. \nOn Thanksgiving 2023\, a young female fin whale named Finny came ashore in Steuben. She was emaciated and barely half the size of a full-grown adult at just 49.6 feet long. After her death\, College of the Atlantic Allied Whale staff\, students\, and volunteers recovered her skeleton many months later with support from Maine Beer Company. \nFinny was carefully cleaned and reassembled by students at College of the Atlantic under the guidance of Dan DenDanto of Whales and Nails\, a research associate with Allied Whale and COA ‘91. On September 16th\, Finny’s skeleton will be suspended above the Maine Beer Company tasting room\, giving her a second life to spark curiosity and connection to these magnificent animals. \nAnd speaking of fin whales\, Lunch\, a fin whale first spotted along the Maine coast in 1982\, has what looks like a bite taken out of her dorsal fin. In 2009\, Lunch captured the imagination of David\, our co-founder. Following an unplanned visit to a whale museum on a rainy day\, he named our signature IPA after her. While not Lunch\, this fin whale skeleton serves as a reminder of our lasting partnership in support of the wild and majestic marine mammals of Maine. \nWe will unveil a 53ft fin whale skeleton of Finny installed in the tasting room and have remarks from: \nRep. Chellie Pingree\, U.S. Representative\, COA Class of 1979 \nSean Todd\, Director\, COA Allied Whale \nDr. Sylvia Torti\, President of College of the Atlantic \nDan Kleban\, Co-founder of Maine Beer Company \nLet’s Get Together for Lunch! All proceeds directly support the critical work of Allied Whale. We hope to see you there. \nEvent tickets & information can be found here: Let’s Get Together for Lunch Tickets. \nCome hungry—your ticket includes a feast! Enjoy fresh\, local vegetables with dips\, hummus\, baba ganoush\, puff pastry tarts\, sizzling yakitori skewers\, and a generous charcuterie spread. No Maine celebration is complete without buttery lobster rolls—plus a full pizza bar. \nYour ticket also includes all beverages—Maine Beer Company’s signature craft brews\, fine wines\, specialty cocktails\, and non-alcoholic beverages. \nTICKETS \nMaine Beer Company\n525 US Route 1\nFreeport\, ME 04032\n(207) 221-5711\nmainebeercompany.com

SUMMARY:Goodfire Freeport Tasting Room & Kitchen - Late To The Party
DESCRIPTION:Our draft release of Late to the Party with German food specials from our very talented kitchen! \nWhat’s Late To The Party All About?\nThe counterpart to traditional Oktoberfest Marzen\, our Festbier is brewed with Pilsner\, Munich and Vienna malts—and hopped with Tettnang for a more pale\, hop-forward final product that drinks somewhere between an Export-strength Lager such as Helles Bock\, and a traditional German Pils. Late to the Party sees about 6 weeks of lagering and is packaged without filtration\, yielding a richly textured and medium-bodied libation that announces itself with dark fruit\, bread crust\, and grassy spice. \nOctober 3rd in Freeport! \n  \nGoodfire Freeport Tasting Room & Kitchen\n180 South Freeport Rd\,\nFreeport\, ME 04032\n207-869-5046\ngoodfirebrewing.com/freeport

SUMMARY:Sidle House - playing through
DESCRIPTION:playing through in the Hall and Studio galleries\, is a solo exhibition of works by Steve Sunenblick. Describing his process as…“travail!!” and\, “pushing the process relentlessly!!” Steve explains that while some artists conceptualize their work in advance\, his approach is\, “a give and take with color\, form\, space and line. Sometimes with an initial idea – but never a fixed one controlling where the painting goes.” On the other side of discomfort is where connection is made. “It takes me to a private place where I can drift\, revel\, and respond spontaneously\, expressively\, deliberately – always searching and adjusting for the feeling evoked in me.” Intense athletes could describe this as\, ‘playing through pain.’ Also\, ‘Playing through’ is a golfing convention where players make allowances for differing paces of play. The artist is no stranger to golf. Prior to Sunenblick’s well-known\, often whimsical ‘Art of Golf’ prints and original works (now in collections and on display around the world); his achievements included completing Peace Corp service\, law school and practice\, a BFA in painting\, residencies at the Vermont Studio Center\, and being involved in the artist community at Portland’s Bakery Studio building. Today\, Steve paints in Mexico and in his Maine studio. \nGALLERY HOURS:\nTHURSDAYS\, FRIDAYS\, SATURDAY 3-6 PM (AUGUST 29 THRU OCTOBER 11) \nTo visit during off hours\, please call/text Maddy at 512.771.1149 \nSidle House\n20 Bartol Island Rd\,\nFreeport\, ME\n512-771-1149\nsidlehouse.com
