The event will feature a live performance by Papa Tim & the Whiskey Throttle Band\, a pie-baking contest\, and a tintype photographer! \nEvery registration and bid at this event brings us closer to achieving our mission. Together\, we can help preserve local history for generations to come. \nADMISSION TICKETS \nIn celebration of our anniversary festivities\, the Durham Historical Society is pleased to announce a contest to determine Durham’s Finest Pie. All capable bakers\, whether practiced homemaker or ambitious newcomer\, are invited to present their best work for honorable judging.\nEnter your best pie and help celebrate Durham’s history\, one slice at a time. Pull out your family’s favorite recipe and join in good ol’ fashioned fun. The Durham Historical Society of yore often had pie bakes as fundraisers and in honor of our past members we are resurrecting the tradition at our silent auction. Pie must be a homemade fruit based pie with a homemade crust.\nPrizes and public distinction await the victor\, along with the everlasting satisfaction of claiming the title of Durham’s Best Pie of 2026. DESCRIPTION:Crab Cakes and Murder\, by Michael Druce\, is a fun dinner theater experience presented by Freeport Players on Friday and Saturday\, May 8 and 9\, at the First Parish Hall\, 40 Main St\, Freeport. At Crab Cakes and Murder\, you will enjoy a delicious dinner prepared by chef David Hansen\, with appetizers by chef Tais de Los Reyes\, and desserts by Tais and volunteers\, while watching the cast of real “characters” as they present a play with some family dynamics\, hilarious wordplay\, a little confusion\, many twists\, and lots of fun. Doors open at 5:30\, for seating. Show begins promptly at 6. Be there on time! For tickets to this dinner and fascinating whodunnit\, go to www.fcponline.org. All tickets\, at $45\, must be purchased on-line\, in advance\, due to menu needs and seating. This is a good opportunity to connect with local theater-lovers and eat great food. \nThe menu has several choices. The main course is crab cakes or vegan (chickpea/hearts of palm) cakes with garlic aioli on a bed of mixed greens with balsamic glaze; roasted red and gold potatoes; sautéed summer squash & zucchini w/ herbs; appetizers (croissant sandwiches\, veggies\, fruits\, cheeses\, meats\, crackers); choice of desserts.
