SUMMARY:Meetinghouse Arts - Local Color: Life Long Dreams
DESCRIPTION:•A show of acrylics and oils by a collegial group of local artists. \nInitially drawn together by our common experiences in Liz Prescott’s art studio\, we meet each week to paint together at the Harraseeket Grange. We paint\, socialize\, and support one another; we help each other grow as artists. And we laugh a lot. \nOver the past three years\, the essence of our group \, now 13 members\, has become a sense of mutual support and critique . We share our painting\, we help each other grow as artists and we care and support one another. As we all have expressed\, Liz has been the common thread: teacher\, friend\, cheerleader or whatever it took to help us on our creative journey. \nMost of our subject matter is drawn from personal experiences and our travels. In our exhibit you will find land and seascapes\, scenes from coastal Maine to a chateau in France\, still life\, florals…and more. We hope you will enjoy it! \nThough not everyone chooses to exhibit\, our member list includes: Tina Edwards\, Kathleen Alfiero\, Susan Caldwell\, Drue Rowena\, Lisa Weickert\, Ann Kistler\, Mary Mraz\, Judy Shank\, Liz Poole\, Bette York\, Sandi Lemmerman\, MaryAnn Healey\, Catriona Heavey\, and Catherine Ruby. DESCRIPTION:Muddy Ruckus is a “darkly inventive” rock duo according to the New York Music Daily. Guitarist Ryan Flaherty and drummer Erika Stahl of Portland\, Maine\, play a grungy style of railroad indie punk blues – a stripped-down sound that delivers full rock band energy\, blending rootsy guitar and edgy percussion on a suitcase drum kit. In the spring of 2023\, the band released their fourth full-length album\, Vacationland\, featuring 14 red-hot tracks that blend psychedelic rock\, punk blues\, and fiery lyrics into a sound that’s uniquely Muddy Ruckus. \nFree concerts every Saturday\, 7 p.m. We’ve invited some of the best hometown talent to take the stage in Discovery Park. DESCRIPTION:The Friends of the Freeport Community Library’s annual Book Sale will be held September 18-21 in the Freeport Community Library Meeting Room. It kicks off with a preview fundraiser on Wednesday\, September 17 from 3:00pm-7:00pm\, when a $20 entry fee will grant shoppers an early opportunity to select from the range of donated materials. The main sale will take place Thursday-Saturday from 10:00am-5:00pm\, then on Sunday and Monday from 10:00am-3:00pm it will be buck-a-bag only\, so bring your bags and fill up on good deals! \nYour donations make it possible! From September 2-16\, we will happily accept all manner of quality books\, CDs\, audiobooks\, & DVDs in the library. Please\, no textbooks\, VHS tapes\, nor moldy or stinky materials.
