Tours offer a rare opportunity to view and learn about the house, which is generally open only once a year, on Pettengill Farm Day.
Join Curator/Collections Manager Holly Hurd as she describes the history of the farm and saltbox house built about 1800 and sustained without the modern conveniences of central heating, running water, or electricity. The tour includes a viewing of the rare sgraffiti wall etchings of ships and marine life. The house resides on a 140-acre saltwater farm and dairy, most recently owned by Mildred and Frank Pettengill.
Tour participants meet at the gate entrance on Petten- gill Road. Wear appropriate footwear for walking on uneven surfaces and bring bug spray.
*PLEASE NOTE* Tours may need to be cancelled due to weather or low turnout. If this happens, regis- trants can select another date or receive a refund. Please call or check our website 24 hours before scheduled tour to check status.
