Desert of Maine – Open Studio Art-Making Event

This is a unique open studio opportunity to create wearable art and amulets, and be part of a giant nature mosaic. Your admission to the Desert of Maine on September 6 from 10 am – 2 pm will help support Freeport’s first public art installation.
Located outside town hall in Freeport, The PInkies is a trio of monumental steel sculptures sheathed in reclaimed fishing gear from beaches and coastal waters and created with the help of fishermen, nonprofits, and over 5,000 volunteers.
The installation of the Pinkies in Freeport is an unforgettable experience made possible through the invaluable partnerships shared by Meetinghouse Arts, the Maine Coast Fishermen’s Association, Freeport Historical Society, COBALT & Team Zostera, Center for Arts and Ecology, and Freeport Climate Action Now.
