When our family first visited Maine many years ago, I was so excited to put together a gift basket of "All Things Maine" to take home to family and friends. One of the items I was looking for was Blueberry Soap and, of course, I found some. However, when I read the list of ingredients (or rather couldn't read the science experiment list of ingredients) I ended up not getting any soap because having a fun scent wasn't worth putting all those chemicals on my body!
So, when we moved to Maine, bought a little farm with goats and chickens and began making and selling our own goat milk soap; we decided we wanted to be the fusion between All Natural and Fun Scents. From shopping for products for our family, it appears you either have all natural with a limited variety in scents from essential oils or you have fun scented products that have so many chemicals you would never dream of putting them on your skin. Our company makes beautiful products that are colored with herbs and clays, that have ingredients you can read and feel good about using, but also have wonderful scents like Wild Maine Blueberry, Bar Harbor Breeze, New England Cranberry and so many more!
Everyone knows about Goat Milk Soap and as a consumer you think that all Goat Milk Soap is created equal, but it's not! Many makers of soap will use all water and then add a little powdered milk or even a little fresh milk at the end of the process so they can say it is Goat Milk Soap. Our soap is made with 100% fresh goat milk from our farm. This is important because goat milk has so many nutrients that are beneficial to our skin from Vit A, D, E to lactic acids and the high fat content that makes the soap so moisturizing and nourishing. It is a lot of work to make 100% goat milk soap. You have to freeze the milk and store it in freezers and you have to make your lye solution per batch instead of having a huge drum of premade solution. Not to mention, milking goats every morning and every night even when it’s 0 degrees outside! =) But... we think all that extra effort and work is worth it and it makes an unbeatable bar of soap!
Our family committed to a holistic lifestyle where we have only used herbs and essential oils as our healing agents for the last 16 years. Now that we have a farm, we use the same natural remedies we use on ourselves to treat our animals as well. That is why we also offer an apothecary line of products. They are the salves, remedies and products that we have used for years and want to share with others. We rely on herbs and essential oils for their antibiotic, antivirus, antibacterial and healing properties and we truly believe that using all natural products allows your body to heal naturally and wholly. Many of the herbs used in our salves and infused oils and tinctures come from our farm. What many people would call "Weeds" we call invaluable resources! We love walking our pastures with our goats and foraging for Yarrow, Plantain, Burdock, Mullein and so much more. What we can't forage for, we cultivate in our herb garden and what we can't grow we buy.
We now make much more than soap and we sell our products at our little farm store at our property, our website, festivals and events, as well as other stores across Maine.
