Shana Aisenberg is a musician, music teacher, and composer. She plays various acoustic instruments including guitar, fiddle, mandolin, 5-string banjo, ukulele, dulcimer, piano, harmonium and more, styles include Appalachian old time, Celtic, New England Contradance, klezmer and more. String Equinox (Shana Aisenberg and Beverly Woods, often joined by Gale Johnsen) play throughout the area for concerts, contra dances, farmers markets and more. String Equinox has recently released two albums of all original music, and are working on another recording to be released this year. Shana also serves as Music Director at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of the Eastern Slopes (UUFES) in Tamworth NH. Shana will be joined by Gale Johnsen. Gale has enjoyed bringing traditional fiddle music to community events for many years. She plays for concerts, contra dances, farmer’s markets and more. Gale also enjoys bringing live music and song to people living in residential settings. She organized contradances and opportunities for musicians to play together in the Conway, NH area and western Maine for several years. She often plays with Shana Aisenberg and Beverly Woods as String Equinox. In addition to her focus on music, Gale is active in her community of Freeport and has been a health care provider in Maine for many years.
