Cadenza – Phill Argyris Trio

The Phill Argyris Trio came together via their common friendship and collaboration with late Boston-area jazz guitarist, Bob Johnson. Pianist Phill Argyris and bassist Jerry Wilfong played with Johnson for more than 30 years around the Boston Jazz scene and performed together as far away as France. Drummer Sheldon Perkins worked his way into the band by marrying Bob’s daughter Lisa.
The trio plays straightforward interpretations from the Great American Songbook with an energy that is sometimes driving and sometimes pensive. This show will feature a number of selections from Phill’s albums Next Steps and Quartet Stories as well as Johnson’s album Musings. This performance will mark the first time these three musicians have played together since before Bob’s passing in 2016. They’re all very much looking forward to the reunion.
Tickets are $16.00 in advance and $20.00 at the door.
