De’Bramble Art Gallery – (Re) Action Painting & Solo Bass Improvisation

(Re) Action is a collaboration between multi-instrumentalist Jeremy Brogan and artist Mairyln Welch. Over the duration of the performance, sounds generated from the bass are reflected in the movements chosen by the painting participants across a large canvas in an attempt to relate sound and the application of paint in real time. Movements in this piece are persistently reactive, requiring the movements of the instrumentalist to be mediated by the interpretation and perception of the painting participants, and allowing the audience and performers alike to explore areas of physical understanding of sound in a focused environment.
