Freeport Community Library – Fungi of the Forest

September 13, 2025 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am

Join us on Saturday, September 13 from 10:00-11:30am for an educational walk through the Freeport woods to learn about foraging and fungi with local mycologist Michael DeLola. Please come prepared for a trail walk (appropriate shoes, bug spray, etc.). The specific trail we will choose is to be announced; if you register now, you will get an email with the location once it has been selected. This program is made in partnership with Freeport Conservation Trust.

Free and open to the public; participation is limited to 20 individuals, signup is required and you must indicate how many people are in your group to reserve everyone’s spot. Registration can be done online at freeportmaine.libcal.com/event/15194738 or by calling the library at 207-865-3307.

Michael DeLola is an amateur mycologist, nature photographer and citizen scientist daylighting as a Technology Engineer at Bowdoin College, where he can be found photographing fungi and infinitesimal spiders on the quad during his lunch break. For more of his work, see @friendtobugs on Instagram or view his website at mdelola.com.
