L.L.Bean – Grand Opening of the Flagship Store’s Reboot

L.L.Bean’s iconic flagship store in Freeport is nearing the completion of its $50 million “Re-Boot” renovation, with a grand reopening planned for September 18–20, 2026. The reimagined store will feature a larger multi-level trout pond, an expanded stream tank with underwater viewing areas, a new 1912 Café, a Custom Shop for personalized gear, redesigned entrances, and enhanced outdoor gathering spaces. The project preserves the spirit of the historic flagship while creating a modern destination that celebrates Maine’s outdoor heritage and L.L.Bean’s long-standing connection to Freeport.
Grand opening events through October will include concerts, a heritage celebration featuring vintage products, special guest appearances from the Red Sox and the Hearts of Pine, Visit Freeport’s 27th Annual Freeport Fall Festival, Camp Sunshine’s Pumpkinfest, contests, giveaways and more. Northern Lights will take over the expanded Discovery Park in early November with an extended holiday celebration and the return of New Year’s Eve festivities.
