Meetinghouse Arts – FreePORT: Our Working Waterfront, Then & Now
May 1, 2025 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Join us for the opening reception of FreePORT: Our Working Waterfront, THEN & NOW — drinks, refreshments, and tastings from local sustainable seafood businesses will be served as we celebrate Freeport’s working waterfront!
This multidisciplinary installation invites you to experience Freeport as one continuous story of ingenuity, resilience, and care. Rooted in the spirit of The Pinkies and grounded by the living history of Freeport’s coast, the exhibition explores the powerful relationships between people, place, and the sea.
Step into the rich history and vibrant future of Freeport’s working waterfront. FreePORT: Our Working Waterfront, Then & Now offers an immersive journey through time, from the earliest fishing traditions to today’s thriving aquaculture industry. Discover artifacts from local digs, captivating photography, and video stories and products from modern-day harvesters. Panels, performances, and community events throughout May will highlight the people, practices, and passions that sustain our coastal heritage. Celebrate Freeport’s enduring connection to the sea and explore how the waterfront continues to shape our community and culture.
