Meetinghouse Arts & Freeport Climate Action Now – Becoming Seagrass

A participatory performance blending science, art, and movement to explore and protect Casco Bay’s vital seagrass ecosystems.
Passamaquoddy Language Keeper Dwayne Tomah, COBALT/Team Zostera dive team, artists and musical guests lead a joyful celebration of Casco Bay’s superhero species of seagrass. Known locally as eelgrass, to scientists it is called Zostera marina and for thousands of years the Passamaquoddy people referred to this species as supeqi-pskihq. Join us to not just learn how to pronounce it, but to actually become a seagrass meadow.
