Wolfe’s Neck Center – Ocean Impressions in Clay
July 23, 2022 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm
This is a two part workshop. Part I is July 23 from 10am-2pm. Part II is July 24 from 12pm-4pm. Each day costs $100 per participant.
Participants in this workshop will create an array of ceramics from hand dug Wolfes Neck clay. We will use objects foraged from the tidal pools and shorelines to aid in the decorative and shaping process. Students will attempt to identify each object gathered and then create impressions into the soft clay as the art object is formed. The local clay that we use starts out green and then after two days of drying and firing will be returned to the student with classic tones of New England brick orange.
This workshop will be led by artist Ethan Hamby. Ethan is a wilderness art guide based out of Acadia National Park. Born in New Hampshire, he was the youngest potter juried into the League of NH Craftsmen. Ethan received his MFA from Maine College of Art in 2019 and has since been traveling the country building tiny houses and making art off the land.
