I am a self-taught artist native to New England. Traditionally an oil painter, I recently have started working with recycled lobster fishing rope as a medium, creating fine art panels, sculpture and functional art. I received a grant from the Maine Arts Commission in 2021 to create the “Drift Rope Project,” a large 6’x8′ rope panel sculpture to draw awareness to the rope as a potential art medium. I am creating and developing an original art form that I believe will be a future Maine art tourism attraction; recycling one of Maine’s largest industries’ waste into fine art.
