As a Mainer, I grew up in the woods and was fascinated by trees and nature. I didn't realize, however, my path as a woodworker until after I got my masters in teaching, taught for six years, and then stayed home with my two beautiful kiddos for eight years. As a stay at home mom, I realized many things I wanted to change around my home. After buying a table & bandsaw, I realized that woodworking was not only the quickest route to fulfilling my home design dreams, but it was also a hidden passion. After my youngest went to kindergarten full time, I went back to school and earned a degree in fine woodworking.
I have always found paddles beautiful, and now create custom paddles that are carved with designs and lettering, then filled with a resin inlay for clients' lake houses. If you go to my website you can watch a video of the process, which incorporates a CNC machine to cut out designs and lettering, along with my own hands-on woodworking. I'm incredibly proud of the state I live in, and as a result, create other Maine decor, not only using wood with resin, but also wood with a mixed media of birch bark, metals, and other found items.
