As a Traditional Fiber Artist, Jo Eaton creates one of a kind crocheted hats that are Maine Landscapes and Abstract Flower Gardens. Maine Landscape hats are created by blending a variety of commercial yarns together to get the colors and textures of the Maine Landscape. Some hats feature lakes, mountains, islands and forests; others are specific, particularly Kathadin, Blue Hill, Camden Hills, Ocean Islands – and sometimes specific ones. With the Abstract Flower Gardens, Jo starts with raw fleeces from Maine Shepherds and processes all the way through, cleaning, washing, dying and then spinning the design into the yarn. She doesn’t know what the final hat will look like until it is crocheted.
