From my home studio in Yarmouth, I focus on heritage crafts, especially the rarely practiced art of tying brooms. I create whisk brooms, pot scrubbers, and full-sized brooms from natural materials like tampico fiber, broomcorn, hemp and linen cord, and real wooden handles. Handmade brooms are both beautiful and functional–pretty enough to display and hardy enough to use every day. If you haven’t swept with a corn broom before, you’re in for a treat! Corn brooms and scrubbers simply work better than the typical synthetic alternatives, while using a heck of a lot less plastic. I love to incorporate color into my work, making an everyday object and an everyday activity feel special, vibrant, and even fun.
