My name is Heather, and my shop is The Bookish Witch. My motto is ‘Magic created from recycled books and hand embroidered art; you can always carry a book with you!’ I create many unique and one a of kind items in a variety of different ways including a large variety of bookmarks, jewelry, terrariums, wood plaques, and hand embroidery art pieces. I make each piece with intention; each piece is unique and filled with small details.
I make a variety of items from recycled book pages, every piece is made by me. My favorite pieces to make are my mini crystal terrariums that contain real crystals, preserved moss, dried flowers, and a small wooden book page charm that I choose to go with the crystal. I make a large variety of bookmarks from recycled books in many different designs, all hand stamped and hand painted on real book pages. I also make a variety of hand stamped and hand painted book page earrings, as well as my witch ball collection. I make earrings and necklaces based on the traditional witch balls we would hang in our homes, but a wearable version. Each piece contains real crystals, dried flowers, and a small book page scroll that I make that is made up of pieces of poetry about nature. I also make a variety of book page plaques that feature hand painted mushrooms and moon phases, adorned with a variety of crystals and preserved moss. All the pages I use are from ‘The Library of World Poetry’ by William Cullen Bryant.
All my embroidery is hand stitched by me; I make hand embroidered earrings, bracelets, necklaces, small trinket bags, wall art, and bookmarks. My hand embroidered pieces range from large 8-inch wall art to pieces that are less than one inch round bookmarks and earrings. I make a variety of embroidered pieces, my favorite being my bookmarks, with a variety of scenes from mushrooms, moons, mountain ranges, books, and flowers. I am continuously trying new embroidery designs, coming up with more all the time. I make a wide variety of pieces, describing my style as witchy cottage core, with something for everyone with designs created with inspiration from nature, the sea, and the beauty of Maine.
