Getting Here Freeport is right off of I-295, an easy 15-20 minutes north of Portland. All of our parking lots are free, but our choice is the FREE covered parking garage, right in the middle of town. No snow brushes needed! Winter driving not for you? Think about taking the Amtrak Downeaster & leave the car at home! The second you step off the train you’re in the center of everything! If you want to explore more of the area, Portland, Maine’s largest city, is just a quick Metro BREEZ bus ride from the pick-up spot on Main Street.
Celebrating Winter Each year in December, Visit Freeport presents one of Maine’s most popular holiday favorites, Sparkle Celebration. The fun starts on the first Friday in December with the Sparkle Celebration Parade of Lights, and goes throughout the following week with the Talking Christmas Tree, Holiday Decorating Contest & giveaways with the Stealth Elf! And as always, visitors will enjoy great dining and holiday shopping, too. L.L.Bean’s Northern Lights turns their Freeport campus into a winter wonderland where you can play, shop and be merry together, all through December!
